Up until now I have been using Pencil for simple wireframes, but recently came across Draw.io. It seems to similar a bit more advanced and is more actively maintained, but made a questionable impression on me concerning its “openness”, still Apache license is good enough for me at this point.
Nevertheless it is an alternative that also comes with an offline version that is also offered as *.deb binary.
